After 6 years of making kites in art class, I just had to start making them with the real stuff, ripstop.

Genki

Above: Hummingbird Genki 12'

Right: The Genki flying with a tail made by friends from my kite club, Peggy and Bernie.

My idea for the graphics on this kite come form images from the Nazca lines in Peru.

Plans

Left: The Accidental Tourist (Ted-EEE). This drogue was fun to make from Tom White's Tom-EEE calculator. From head to toe it is 6'4". Finished Jan '04.

Right: I made this lifter kite from plans for the Peter Lynn Pilot. It is 50 sq. ft. and is a nice steady lifter. Completed Jan '04.

 August 2003

During the International Kite Festival here in Dieppe, NB, our kite club participated in a workshop by Robert Trepanier. This is one of the kites I made at his workshop. One of my favourite works of art is American Gothic by Grant Wood. For fun I added the Acadian flag...so I'm calling it Acadian Gothic.

My Della Porta was completed this in Feb, 2004. The Kitebuilder forum offered an online workshop. The pace was slow and easy and lots of fun and offered a great opportunity for anyone to join the class and work along each week on this project. We discussed the procedures and were able to give and receive feedback. I'm looking forward to the next project!
